KUB Honored by Tree Line USA
The Arbor Day Foundation has named
KUB a Tree Line USA Utility each year since 2001 for its national leadership in properly caring for trees while meeting customers' needs for reliable utility service.
The Tree Line USA award recognizes utility companies that show national leadership in commitment to the well-being of trees through quality tree care, employee training, and consumer education about suitable tree-planting near utility lines.
Trees play an important role in the beauty and livability of towns and cities, and KUB is committed to protecting this valuable resource while performing utility service. When a tree poses a potential hazard to nearby power lines, KUB uses the lateral pruning method recommended by the Arbor Day Foundation, International Society of Arboriculture, and National Arborist Association. This method redirects tree growth away from power lines, causing less damage to the tree than do other methods, such as topping or rounding.
KUB maintains its annual status as a Tree Line USA Utility by -
- Adhering to quality tree care work practices
- Providing annual training for all KUB employees and for contractors, supervisors, and employees who do pruning work for KUB
- Providing an ongoing community tree-planting program
- Providing educational information about trees to all homeowner customers
- Participating in annual Arbor Day events
- The Arbor Day Foundation cosponsors Tree Line USA awards with the National Association of State Foresters.
The Arbor Day Foundation formally recognized KUB's ongoing efforts to care for trees at the Annual Trees and Utilities National Conference. This annual conference brings together utility professionals, foresters, arborists, and concerned citizens with the common goal of providing dependable utility service and maintaining healthy, beautiful trees.
